7 Soldados de la Victoria (III): Zatanna

Página 11 de Zatanna #3 (DC, 2005) "Three Days Of The Dead" por Ryan Sook entintada con una limpieza increíble por Mick Gray. Aparecen Zatanna, Misty y Ali Ka-Zoom.

How I approached Zatanna is simply based on the images of the character in the comics over the years rather than what has been written of her character, and of course, much of it is coming from how Grant is writing her in this comic. The writer always sets the tone for what I draw on the page, and this is no different.

All I received really were Grant’s written descriptions and some dimensionscape sketches that he did for a couple of scenes in issue one, so there was plenty of design work for me to do, including a handful of new characters as well as revamping a few old ones. All in all that part of the project was a lot of fun.

Comixfan: Grant Morrison and Peter David each have a very distinctive style of writing that is quite different from the other. What do you find to be the most distinct difference between their writing styles to be?

Sook: It would be easier to specify the similarities. They're both comic scripts. That's it. Outside of that I'd say they're drastically different. Perhaps it's just the subject matter that calls for different styles but (X-Factor writer Peter) David seems to have written very straightforward "this is what needs to be on the page" type of scripts where Grant is really laying the foundation for an artist to build on. Both do their job very well and I enjoy working from either approach.
